I intend to make several trips to the Hammers this season, Fall 2006 through Spring 2007. Is anyone interested?

My goals:

1) Do all the original Hammer trails, especially the ones I have not done yet.
-Wrecking Ball
-Jackhammer
-Outer Limits

2) Finish Crowbar. This will be a lot of work, spread over several weekends.

3) Finish Shaft Canyon. Upper Shaft Canyon could be finished in a day. Lower Shaft Canyon will take a weekend minimum.

4) Explore the newer trails.
-Backdoor
-Resolution
-Highway 20
-any others that I can learn about.

These trips may or may not end up being an official Club Run.

Participants must be prepared for body damage and breakage (can you say tools and spare parts?) and rigs must be double locked, low geared, and have large tires (minimum 35's for Toys, Jeeps, and Broncos, minimum 33's for Sammys).

Those that are interested please post up dates that are good for you.

So far I plan on:

-Thanksgiving weekend, Friday 11/24/06 through Sunday 11/26/06

-New Year's week, approximately Tuesday 12/26/06 through Monday 1/1/07

-Tin Bender Jamboree, April 2007

Plus many weekends, to be determined...

The Big Dawgs will be out at the Hammers doing the Fissure Mountain Trail. (Did I spell that right?) October 14 for Big Dawg Safari. You are all invited. Mybe we can get a group out to do Crowbar again. I won't have my Formula 4 on wheels till next summer but I can fill a passenger seat and do some spotting. Dancing

Maybe I will bring the mog out to run with the Big Dawgs. It will fit in better with that crowd. Dancing I would need a spotter that's used to big bad rigs to help me!

Thanks for the invite!

Yes, Fissure Mountain is correct. I have seen is spelled Fisher or other variants, but Fissue (as in a crack) is what it is called at the Mailbox roadsign on Sledgehammer, so in my opinion, that IS the correct spelling!

By the way, Fissure Mountain Trail is the trail that starts (or ends) at the ARCA Rock near the end of Aftershock and ends near the start of Sledgehammer. It runs along the ridge and crest of the Hartwell Hills (where the Hammers are). It is a moderate trail by Hammers standards but I like it a lot becasue of the excellent views, hill climbs, and ridge runs. The toughest spot is the very steep rocky descent, with sand on the rocks, near the south end. Anyone who has done Sledgehammer is familiar with this since most people come down the mountain this way.

I would love to say I will make most of the Hammer Runs, but the fact is I will try to make a couple and then anything is bonus fun for me right now. Sick
