We're going on a one day run Saturday, December 19th to Nightmare Gulch and Last Chance Canyon located in the Red Rock Canyon State Park area just North of Mojave. The trails are rated easy/moderate with some optional difficult and challenging areas. This is a new off-road area for the club and offers some great wheelin' with beautiful scecenry. The trail is only open the 2nd half of each month from August to December and is closed from January through July. We'll have extra seats for anyone wanting to just ride along...Lloyd will be leading the run. We plan to meet at Primo Burgers, 16862 State Highway 14 in Mojave at 8:30A for breakfast, then head North on Hwy 14 to the park Information Center for maps and information on the trails. Those that don't make if for breakfast can meet us there around 9:15A. If you need gas there are plenty of gas stations in Mojave before Primo Burgers, and Primo's is just after the main drag in Mojave where the road turns to the right and is on the right hand side when you are headed north. Check out these photos of the area taken during another clubs 2008 run-See you on the trail!

I think I will try to go to this run. I haven't seem you guys in a while and this sounds like an interesting trip. What level of difficulty is this supposed to be? Not sure which wheeler to bring.

I did a little research on the trail and it looks very mild. There are several write ups out there with stock Range Rovers, Mitsubishis and Jeeps going through it. Here's some pics http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/vie ... hp?t=39571 I think I would be bored with my truck or the ftoy, maybe I can arrange to borrow dad's 4runner.

On a scale of 1 to 10 this trail is probably around a 4 or 5 to an experienced driver, but is very scenic and has some abandoned mines and other stuff to see. I have attached a map of the area, We would be entering off of Hwy 14 and doing Nighmare Gulch to Cudahay's Camp for a stop then out by way of Last Chance Canyon to Randsburg Road

Most of the trails are moderate but there are some optional challenging routes that should get our attention...

I mapquested it from Covina and it's showing 2.5 hours. So 5 hours round trip just for the commute. That's a loooooong haul for a day trip, I may have to pass on this one.
