The club is planning a 6 day trip to beautiful Silverton, Colorado beginning August 8th. We have some RV sites available at the Silver Summit RV park in Silverton, however there's also some very nice (and historic) Bed & Breakfasts, motels, and great resturants in town for those folks without RVs. We'll be exploring the beautiful and historic trails, ghost towns, and old mining camps the the San Juan mountains with off-road trips over scenic 12-13,000 foot mountain passes to early mining towns such as Creed, Animas Forks, Telluride, Ouray, Lake City , etc. etc. Come and join us for some wonderful and historic wheelin' and fantasic scenery!

For anyone is interested in joining us there is an RV site at Silver Summit still available. Currently the following folks are going:

Fred and Venetta
Brian Bergman
Bob and Sharon Andress
Lloyd and Phylis
Allan and Karen Towardos
Art and Sharon Hastings

For alternative accomodations there's also some nice B and Bs and motels in Silverton...

Well we're getting close to our Colorado trip! I would suggest that all those that are going bring a FRS/GMRS hand held 2-way radio-they work great for keeping in touch between motorhomes while traveling, and work very well while communicating on the trails. I just bought a set of high powered Motorolas at Costco for $50.
For those of you that are going to caravan with some of us in RVs to Colorado, at the last club meeting we decided to meet at The Summit cafe at 8AM Sat. morning, August 7th. If no one has objections, I would suggest we meet earlier-at 7AM rather than 8, and leave about 8AM to help us avoid the desert heat?
Saturday night we plan to stay at Meteor Crater RV Park, about 30 miles East of Flagstaff. They're clean and always have plenty of open sites with full hookups.

Remember to bring your cameras-Colorado and especially the Silverton area is knock-out beautiful!

Nice job on the trip report in "The Breakdown" Art. Sounds like it was a great trip!
