Yes... that was Lion's Back. It really isn't that bad in a capable, well maintained rig. You would have to do something really stupid, or have a serious mechanical failure to have any problems.

I did it for the first time last year and it WAS SCARY going up, not too bad going down.

This year, it was no big deal, up or down. The biggest thrill was that first time UP!

When I watched that crash I thought and still believe they knocked it out of 4wd or into neutral, Maybe after that they lost the brakes. when you see that thing comin down it is not in low 4wd in my opinion

I think it was an auto trans and knowing them very good in downhill offroad situations I would never try Lions-Back with an auto

In the video clip I watched they said the "drivetrain broke" in the blazer. Most likely it was either the trans or a transfer case failure, maybe a chain broke or something. I'm not sure if those Tcases are chain or gear driven. Anyway, you can't stop on that obstacle without the driveline slowing you down!

I know the driver was not the normal driver the owner(husband) got to the top and then let his wife drive down.

yeah, women drivers! Laughing She probably heard there was a sale at Nordstroms or something when she was at the top and wanted to get down in a hurry so she could get a good parking spot. Laughing
